Wood duck, Mandarin duck, teal, kingfisher and a heron flee as a hobby falcon swoops into their midst, slamming into a teal whilst a peregrine falcon stoops onto another target from above.
The rich gold acrylic background accentuates the features of the delicately detailed gouache birds, evoking the traditions of Indo-Persian miniature painting, but in a form entirely original and uniquely “Shah Wali”.
