Duelling Peacocks, 2026

£850.00

My first painting of 2026, coincidingwith Burma's Independence Day of 4th January 1948. The peacock has long been the national symbol of Burma/Myanmar - a country which has the distressing record of hosting the world's longest-running civil war.

Duelling peacocks seemed an apt image, displaying both the beauty and tragedy of Myanmar.

I deliberately depicted a South East Asian green peacock and an Indian blue peacock; representing Myanmar’s location at the nexus of South and South East Asia.
