Gouache, ink & acrylic on board.
A5
This painting is #5 in a series-of-six polyptych.
The fifth stanza of my Persian poem "ISN", telling the story of an Afghan villager interned in the notorious US-run Bagram internment facility. In this painting, the detained man dreams of vengeance. The calligraphy reads:
Ān rūzī kē rahā mī shawam
Tanhā yak kārī rā anjām mī daham
Askarān-i zālimam rā mī kusham
Tā dardam rā ilāj kunam
Translation:
The day I am released
I will fulfill just one aim:
My oppressor's soldiers I will kill,
To alleviate my pain.
